Hobie Iselin, a native of Long Island, came to the Pioneer Valley in 1975, having spent 5 years in several construction trades apprentice- ships in Europe. After ten years specializing in the construction of solar and energy-efficient homes and additions, he moved to Northampton and began to develop his clientele in both commercial and residential remodeling. His prominent commercial projects include major renova- tions and additions to the Hotel Northampton, the restoration of the Calvin Theater, the rebuilding of the National Felt Building, as well as the renovation and construction of numerous storefronts and restaur- ants throughout the Valley.
With commercial projects valued up to three million dollars, and residential projects ranging from five thousand to five million, Hobie has established himself as a versatile and multi-talented builder and contractor, specializing in unusual and often demanding projects.
Hobie is active in Habitat for Humanity on both the local and national levels. His other interests include running and cycling, rock climbing, birding, traveling, physical fitness and outdoor activities of all kinds. He lives in Northampton with his wife Deb Oakley.
